BFF Apple finds a home and the shelter has enough money for her surgery

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Our third Best Furry Friend, Apple has found her forever home.

Apple, a 1-year-old Manchester terrier mix, was surrendered to the Kurth Memorial Animal Shelter with her 5 puppies, all of which have been adopted except for one, Monkey.

Apple is also in the process of receiving treatment for heartworm's.

Staff and volunteers put a call out to East Texans to help raise money for Apple's treatment and an amputation surgery.

The shelter has raised enough money to pay for her surgery. Apple has a disability that renders one of her front paws unusable and after much consideration from the veterinarian, they agreed that it was in Apple's best interest to amputate the leg.

The vet says she will get around fine on 3 legs and it won't stop her from running around an playing like every other dog.
