LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin firefighters responded to a house fire late Monday night in the 1300 block of North Warren Street.
According to Lufkin Fire Battalion Chief Bobby Hobbs, they received several calls around 10:45 p.m., about a house fire, once firefighters arrived they found the home fully engulfed.
Because of the strong south winds firefighters evacuated the house next door as a precaution.
Crews were able to get the blaze under control by about 11:15 p.m.
Hobbs said it is believed two people lived in the house, but they were not in the home when firefighters arrived on the scene.
There are initial reports that there was a family pet, but that has not been confirmed.
Fire Marshal Steve McCool is on the scene interviewing neighbors and the residents of the home to try to determine what caused the fire.
Red Cross officials arrived on the scene around 12:30 a.m. to help the victims.
The investigation is ongoing.
