HOUSTON COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has issued an Amber Alert for the two young children from Houston County who were allegedly kidnapped by their grandmother.
According to the alert, law enforcement officials believe that the two children may be in "grave or imminent danger." They were last seen in Kennard.
According to a press release, Bonnie Miller, 48, took the children, 2-year-old Nehaeh Kimora Simpson and 1-year-old Jordan Malik Simpson during a custody dispute.
Miller is a black woman who is 5-foot-6 and 190 pounds. She may be driving a gray 2005 Honda Accord EX four-door with a Texas license plate with the number CYX-069. The car has tinted windows and a rear spoiler. Authorities believe Miller may be in the Houston area or North Texas because she has family in those regions.
According to the release, the mother had died in a north Texas hospital in late December. The father has custody of the children and took them to the grandmother's house for a Christmas visit. When he returned Christmas Day to pick up his children, the grandmother refused to give them up.
A court order was issued listing the father as the sole managing conservator. During the time when the court proceedings initiated and were being finalized, the grandmother left the county with both children.
Two felony arrest warrants for kidnapping warrants have been issued for Miller.
Anyone with any information about Miller's whereabouts should call the Houston County Sheriff's Office at (936) 844-2862.
