Woodville native makes it to next round on American Idol

Posted: Updated:

Woodville native, Kree Harrison, advanced to the Top 10 on Thursday night's episode of American Idol.

The small East Texas community is truly excited as they watch their "hometown girl" sing her heart out on the 12th season of American Idol.

Harrison's name was called for the 10th and final spot to go to the next level of the competition.

After her named was called she hit the stage to perform a "victory song," and Idol judges expressed praise for her competition performance.

But even before Kree advanced to the Top 20 her childhood friend Amanda Boyd was already calling her the winner.

"Oh all the way, all the way," Boyd said. "I know she's going to be the next American Idol, no doubt about that."

Although she lives in Nashville now, her family and friends in the small Tyler County town say she'll always call East Texas home.

You can watch and support our East Texas American Idol contestant every Wednesday and Thursday on American Idol on Fox.
