Posted: Updated:
LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

The East Texas bluegrass trio Lacie Carpenter and the Southern Strings kicked off the first night of downtown Lufkin's Standpipe Coffee's Hidden Village Music Festival.

The music festival will have showcase artists of differing varieties each night until March 18 as they travel to and from Austin, Texas for the weeklong nationally recognized music and film festival SXSW.

Lacie Carpenter and the Southern Strings are known for their mixture of traditional bluegrass and upbeat tempos, sometimes even rock and roll.

The bands will be traveling from all over the country with some of them coming from Nashville, Tenn. and Boston, Mass.

Tickets for nightly events cost $5 at the door.
