LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -
The East
Texas bluegrass trio Lacie Carpenter and the Southern Strings kicked off the
first night of downtown Lufkin's Standpipe Coffee's Hidden Village Music
Festival.
The
music festival will have showcase artists of differing varieties each night
until March 18 as they travel to and from Austin, Texas for the weeklong nationally
recognized music and film festival SXSW.
Lacie
Carpenter and the Southern Strings are known for their mixture of traditional
bluegrass and upbeat tempos, sometimes even rock and roll.
The
bands will be traveling from all over the country with some of them coming from
Nashville, Tenn. and Boston, Mass.
Tickets
for nightly events cost $5 at the door.
