Highway 69 Fatal Accident

One teenager is dead, while two other teenagers and an elderly woman are in the hospital tonight after a devastating crash just North of Lufkin this afternoon.

The two vehicle crash on Highway 69 just North of Lufkin caused the Angel Flight helicopter to be called in to take Crystal White to the hospital but she died on the way. Just after 2:00 p.m. this afternoon.

White tried to turn left onto HWY 69 and was hit broadside by a Ford F-250 pickup. The impact was hard enough to spin the car completely around. Rescue workers had to use the Jaws of Life to open the doors so the injured passengers could be removed.

Witnesses say the car just pulled out in front of the truck.

The other three passengers, Delois Teer and two teenagers, were taken to Memorial Hospital in Lufkin.

The driver of the truck, James Young also of Lufkin, was not seriously injured.

Investigators say the truck appears to have been doing the speed limit and just didn't have time to avoid the car.

The conditions of Teer and the teenage passengers are not know at this time.
