Nacogdoches Chili's to host Give Back Night to benefit Family Crisis Center

NACOGDOCHES, TX (News Release) -

Eat, drink, and have a good time for a good cause! On March 13th Chili's Grill & Bar in Nacogdoches will be giving back by donating 10 percent of your food and beverage purchases to benefit the Family Crisis Center of East Texas.

The incentive is available all day. Proceeds from the Chili's Give Back Night are designed to go to organizations that specialize in the specific needs of the community. The Family Crisis Center of East Texas offers services to family violence and sexual assault victims in nine counties, including Nacogdoches and Angelina counties.

Proceeds raised by the event will fund community Sexual Assault Awareness Month events in April. The Family Crisis Center honors those that have fallen victim to sexual violence and seeks to promote awareness during this timeframe.

The 2013 theme is "Step Up for Change." You must present The Give Back Night Flyer when paying for your meal to donate 10% to the Family Crisis Center of East Texas. The flyer is available through the Family Crisis Center of East Texas Facebook page.

The Family Crisis Center of East Texas provides services that are vital for survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault to establish a safe and secure life free from abuse. Services include 24-hour emergency hotline and emergency shelter, transportation, crisis intervention, case management, legal advocacy, child advocacy, sexual assault advocacy, advocacy for employment and housing, peer support groups, individual and family counseling, therapy groups, emergency financial assistant, and transitional housing. Other community services include primary prevention and community education.

More than a few tar-covered tires are hanging on to the parking lot of a Lufkin tire shop.  On August 31, newly laid asphalt on Loop 287 started sticking to tires of those driving, leaving many of the cars un-driveable. As of Friday, the Texas Department of Transportation hadn't come out with an official cause for the incident, but that hasn't stopped over 600 people from filing claims with them.
