Former Lufkin Police Officer Dies

A former Lufkin police officer was shot and killed this afternoon while responding to a 911 hang-up call in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Officer Trey Hutchison was transported to LSU Hospital where he later died. Bossier City police officials said that officer Hutchison had just arrived on scene and was approaching the house to investigate the call when he was ambushed. The suspect remains barricaded inside the residence. Neighbors report hearing two shots.

Lufkin Police officials tell the East Texas News that officer Hutchison has only been gone from the force for less than a year, and they join with officer Hutchison's family and the Bossier Police Department in the mourning of their loss. Bossier City officials said they have not lost an officer since 1962.
