TRINITY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -
Deputies with the
Trinity County Sheriff's Office arrested a 55-year-old man Wednesday on a
felony warrant for injury to the elderly after he allegedly beat up his father
and threw him off a porch.
"His dad was beat up
pretty bad," Trinity County Sheriff Woody Wallace said.
Michael Bird, a
Trinity County resident, is still being held in jail on a felony injury to the
elderly charge. His bail has been set at $5,000.
According to Wallace,
Bird had been staying at his father's house at Barrett's Camp when he allegedly
beat up his father and threw him off the porch. Wallace that Bird's father fled
from the scene after the incident and went to live with a relative in Gun
Barrel City.
The father told the
relative about the beating. Wallace said the relative told Gun Barrel City
Police officers what happened and that the father had bruises all over his
body.
Wallace said there was
enough evidence for the Trinity County Sheriff's Office to obtain a felony
arrest warrant for Bird. He said TCSO deputies then went out to the home at
Barrett's Camp and picked Bird up without incident.
