Nacogdoches man killed in auto-pedestrian accident Sunday morning

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A Nacogdoches man is dead after an auto-pedestrian accident around 6:45 AM Sunday morning.

According to the Department of Public Safety, Tony Ray Burks was driving a 2004 F-150 pickup pulling a boat trailer on State Highway 103 East when he hit a pedestrian in the roadway.

36-year-old Jayson Wayne Moore of Nacogdoches was pronounced dead at the scene around 7:31 AM.

The posted speed limit on Hwy 103 East where the accident occurred is 70 MPH.

The accident is still under investigation. DPS says it is unclear why Moore was in the roadway.

DPS Trooper Josh Senn is the investigating officer.
