NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Deputies with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office arrested two Houston men and confiscated 28 pounds of marijuana following a traffic stop early Wednesday morning.

According to Sheriff Jason Bridges, deputies stopped a Chevy Malibu on US 59 South. While deputies were talking to the driver, they reported smelling marijuana coming from inside the car.

Deputies used probable cause to search the car and found 28 pounds of marijuana in plastic trash bags inside the trunk, Bridges stated.

Deputies arrested Calvin Geans, 30, and Dante Trice, 28, on charges of third-degree possession of marijuana.

Bridges said the marijuana carries a street value of $33,600.
