LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A jack of all trades, Martha Hernandez has seen and done it all. Hernandez won the Athena Leadership Award Thursday morning at the 3rd Annual 2013 Women's Conference of East Texas.
The award is only given to one woman or man each year that demonstrates excellence in their profession, provides valuable service to improving the quality of life for everyone, and actively assisting women in realizing their full leadership potential.
"This is a great honor. I'm in the company of the two great woman who have received this in the prior years so it makes me feel proud that I was named as this year's recipient and at the same time I'm able to represent a variety of women that all strive for the benefit of this community," said Hernandez.
Hernandez is a board member for several organizations including the Boys and Girls Club of Diboll, Family Crisis Center, Diboll Housing Authority and Angelina Beautiful Clean. She is also a vice president for First Bank & Trust East Texas and a commissioner for the State of Texas Commission on Judicial Conduct in Austin, Texas.
