LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A man who allegedly led police on a 2.7 mile pursuit through a neighborhood early Sunday morning is in jail.

Police received a call from a woman stating that she was being followed in car by a man in another vehicle and it was scaring her.

Police attempted to stop 34-year-old, Jecorey Richard's vehicle but he pulled into a driveway on the 700 block of Abney and later fled in his vehicle,  leading officers on a short pursuit, in circles through a residential area.

Police say Richard stopped in the 900 block of Sayers and he was taken into custody where they found less than a gram of cocaine in his vehicle.

His bond has been set at $7,500 for each offense.

Evading arrest/detention with a vehicle is a 3rd degree felony and possession of a controlled substance <1 gram is a state jail felony.
