CHANDLER, AZ (CBS5) -

Chandler police have released the identity of a motorcyclist killed early Sunday morning after hitting the rear of an SUV.

The victim is identified as 22-year-old Anthony Chavez. He died at a local trauma center.

The crash occurred at 2 a.m. as Chavez was traveling eastbound on Warner Road near Commanche at an estimated speed of 90 mph, twice the posted legal limit, officers said.

The motorcycle slammed into the back of the SUV, and the impact threw Chavez a considerable distance, according to investigators.

Three people in the SUV were not hurt.

The motorcycle then struck a light pole, knocking it over into the street.

Police said the accident created an 80-yard-long debris field.

Police said it's believed Chavez was impaired.
