JASPER, TX (KTRE) - After a felony arrest warrant was issued for him, the treasurer of the Jasper Band Boosters turned himself into authorities Friday. James Galvan, 49, of Jasper, is accused of stealing almost $8,000 from the organization.
A spokesman for the Jasper County Jail said Galvan was charged with theft between $1,500 and $20,000, which is a state-jail felony. He posted a bail of $5,000 and was released later that day.
Captain Gerald Hall said the alleged theft from the Booster Club's funds occurred over the course of several months. Galvan is also the editor of the "Jasper Newsboy."
Galvan turned himself in at the Jasper Police Department. He later appeared in front of Municipal Judge Robert Jackson and was charged with felony theft.
