EAST TEXAS (KTRE) -

Rain showers and thunderstorms will become more widespread and heavier in nature as we head through the evening and overnight hours.  The heavy downpours and steady rainfall is exactly what we need, as rainfall deficits continue to creep up across the Piney Woods.

The best chances for rain will be from this evening and continuing through Wednesday morning.  As we progress through the day on Wednesday, our odds for rain will begin to taper off, but not go away completely.  Now would be a good time to find those umbrellas and keep them on hand over the next couple of days.

Rainfall potential is looking rather nice, with average rainfall amounts of one to two inches expected between now and Thursday morning.  Some areas, however, could end up receiving close to three inches, depending upon where the heavier rain bands set up.
