Schools remain on lock down due to Hopkins Co. Jail escape

WINNSBORO, TX (KLTV) -

Sulphur Springs ISD will be on lockdown Wednesday, as the search for two inmates who escaped from the Hopkins County Jail continues.

Administration officials at Yantis ISD tell us that they too will be on lockdown Wednesday. Students are not being allowed outside, and are being escorted when they move throughout the building.

Como-Pickton CISD will be on lockdown, as well.

Northeast Texas Community College posted a message on their website urging students, faculty and staff to be aware of their surroundings and take safety precautions. The message also stated that class schedules were not affected.

Amy Northcutt, principal for Sulphur Bluff ISD says they will continue a modified lockdown on Wednesday. The perimeters are all secured and the doors are being monitored by staff. Northcutt does tell us students are moving inside the school with escorts.

Winnsboro ISD will also continue with a moderate lockdown Wednesday morning. Superintendent Mark Bosold tells us that there will be extra security on campus both indoors and outside. School staff has also been briefed and given photos of Brian Tucker and John King, the two men who are on the run.

Daingerfield-Lone Star ISD confirms that they have locked the exterior doors to their school buildings as a precautionary measure, but are not in a full lockdown.

Bosold also tells us that the Wood County Sheriff's Office will be on patrol at bus stops this morning.

The Superintendent at Rains ISD confirms that they will be on a soft lockdown Wednesday.
