CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) -

A jury has sentenced a 75-year-old Grapeland man to five years in prison for pointing a gun at two public servants who tried to stop him from burning during a burn ban in winter 2010.

The jury found Ross Cleveland Richardson, 75, guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a public servant on Wednesday. He has since posted a $50,000 appeal bail bond.

According to the initial report, Richardson was burning during a burn ban on Dec. 31, 2010. A fire marshal came out to the scene and Richardson pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and pointed it at the marshal. The marshal left and called for a deputy. When the deputy arrived, Richardson pointed the gun at him.
