Construction worker killed by falling heavy equipment

MINEOLA, TX (KLTV) -

According to the Wood County Sheriff's Department, a 911 caller reported an accidental death on Loop 564 near Highway 69 in Mineola Monday night.

Responders found that a company working on a utility line was in the process of drilling a hole underneath the roadway to run the utility line. There were several people in the hole at the time of the accident. One of the workers in the hole lost his life when a large piece of construction equipment overturned into the hole, crushing the worker.

The man who was killed in the accident has been identified as Romualdo Gonzalez-Paramo, 40, of Waskom.

No one else was hurt in the accident. An autopsy was ordered by the Justice of the Peace. The investigation will be completed pending autopsy results.
