Officials searched a home in the 2000 block of Cushing Drive in Northwest Tyler for narcotics Thursday afternoon.

Officials found seven guns, crack cocaine, and marijuana inside the Tyler home.

The Tyler Police Department says they arrested convicted felon, 45-year-old Richard Hartsfield, who lives at that home.

According to public records, Hartsfield was arrested by Tyler police for murder back in 1988.

Tyler police confirmed Thursday night that this is the same man.

In 1992, Hartsfield was convicted of murder and sentenced to 40 years in prison. He was paroled in July of 2008 and has been living in Smith County since then.

Hartsfield is being charged with theft of a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and delivery of a controlled substance between four and 200 grams.

The Tyler Police Department says Hartsfield is still being questioned and will be booked into the Smith County Jail late Thursday night.
