ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Deputies with the Angelina County Sheriff's Office arrested a Lufkin woman accused of leaving her three-year-old child home alone early Thursday morning.

According to the report, deputies were sent to McClendon Road at 1 a.m. following a report of gunshots in the area.

Deputies arrived at the home which the call referenced and saw the front door was slightly opened. They then called for someone to come to the door, but when nobody did, they went inside and checked all the rooms.

The deputies found a three-year-old child asleep on a bed in the master bedroom, but nobody else home, according to the report.

Another deputy reported seeing a woman walking toward Loop 287 with another man, so the deputy asked her about the child in the home.

The woman, Belinda Ann Bryan, 22, said she was walking toward her mother's house to check on her health. She said she thought she had left the door locked.

According to Capt. Alton Lenderman, even if Bryan was telling the truth about her mother and thinking she had locked the door, the incident was still a criminal offense, because the child was in danger being home alone.

Bryan is charged with state-jail felony abandonment of child. She posted a $2,500 bail later Thursday.
