ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -
A Huntington man escaped a plane crash with minor burns after wrecking in the Burke area Sunday evening.

Constable Tom Selman said Jerry Roy Morehouse, 59 of Huntington, crashed an ultralight experimental plane in the 1000 block Neyland Road after clipping a power line.

According to eyewitnesses at the residence, the crash happened shortly after 7 P.M.

"We thought he had died," said Vince Treadwell.

"We thought it was over. He made a circle and got too low and hit the power lines. It flipped down and he caught on fire. It wasn't pretty," said homeowner Craig Wood.

"Ronnie King cut him out," said Treadwell.

"Ronnie's the hero, he's an American hero," said Wood.

The scene has been secured by the Department of Public Safety. Investigators from the Nation Transportation Safety Board are expected to come out on Monday and investigate the crash.
