Lufkin Zoo hosting Earth Day celebration on Saturday

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Earth day is April 22, but you can celebrate it early this year at the Lufkin Zoo on Saturday, April 20.

The zoo will be hosting its annual Earth Day celebration.

The event, called Bears, Blooms and Butterflies, will educate patrons about area wildlife.

The event is free with regular zoo admission. There will be games and crafts for the kids.

There will also be a bear maze they can explore.

It's all in hopes of raising conservation awareness.

"The zoo is involved in a lot of different conservation programs both here and with breeding programs, so we want to come out and learn about the projects and some of the things that are actually happening right here in Deep East Texas," said director of educational services at the Lufkin Zoo, Charlotte Henely.

The event runs from 10 A.M. – 2 P.M.
