2 killed in rainy wreck in Jasper Co.

JASPER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Two people died after the driver hydroplaned and struck an 18-wheeler in Jasper County Thursday afternoon.

Wallace Paul Rogers, 56, of Hemphill, and Ginger Norwood, 66, of Orange, died at 4:53 p.m. at the scene, located on US 96, about five miles north of Kirbyville.

According to the DPS report, Rogers was driving a 2006 Dodge 1500 northbound on US 96 when he hydroplaned, crossed the center stripe, and struck a 2002 Kenworth, driven by Dallas Wayne King, of Coryton, Ind.

Rogers and Norwood, who was a passenger in the Dodge, were each wearing seatbelts.
