NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Officers with the Nacogdoches Police Department are investigating a physical confrontation on Harris Street Thursday night that escalated to the point that one of the young men involved was shot in the face.
The gunshot victim's wound was not life threatening, according to Sgt. Greg Sowell, a spokesman for the Nacogdoches Police Department, said.
According to the police report, NPD officers responded to a 911 call about a gunshot that occurred between 6:00 and 6:09 p.m. Thursday. Once they got to the house in the 900 block of Harris Street, they learned that two men, ages 17 and 19 got into a fight in the home's yard.
At some point, someone produced a hand gun, and the 17-year-old man was shot in the face. Sowell said the 19-year-old received cuts and bruises, likely as a result of the physical altercation.
"The case is still under investigation, and no arrests have been made," Sowell said.
