YUMA, AZ (CBS5) -

A 19-year-old Yuma High School student was arrested and booked into jail for allegedly assaulting a school resource officer Friday.

Omar McQueen, who the resource officer was investigating for a drug offense, was taken into custody about 10 a.m. Friday, according to a Yuma Police Department spokesman.

The spokesman said McQueen was taken to the officer's office and was told he was under arrest. Police said he attacked the resource officer and had to be subdued by other officers using an electronic device to restrain him.

McQueen was booked into the Yuma County Detention Center on one count of aggravated assault on a police officer and in the original case that was being investigated, possession of marijuana for sale in a drug-free school zone, the spokesman said.
