East Texas Chopped: local amateur chefs compete

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KLTV) -

Lucky ticket-holders for tomorrow night's sold out "Chopped East Texas" will get a taste of East Texas' amateur chefs' culinary skills at the Fredonia Hotel in Nacogdoches.

Today, students in SFA's hospitality administration program are prepping for the event. They're cooking much of the meal for guests, who will be watching the stiff, but fun, competition.

"We have a celebrity couple, local celebrity couples, who are going to get mystery baskets for each course and they will put together a meal from what's in the mystery basket and we have some chefs with really awesome culinary experience who will be judging for us," said Wendi Kunkel, SFA student marketing liaison.

This year's theme is bringing the flavors of the forest. You can only imagine what ingredients will be in those mystery food baskets.
