Angelina Co. boys, girls pull off narrow wins in 5th Showdown

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Both Angelina County boys and girls teams kept their perfect record intact in the Pineywoods Showdown, with each eaking out narrow wins.

It wasn't until the last few moments of the game that the Angelina County girls took the lead and pulled off the 74-72 win.

Led by Lufkin's Kassie Jones' 36 points, Angelina County stopped Nacogdoches County's last second shot attempt to take the win.

The Family Crisis Center of East Texas was the charity of Angelina County's choice, and KTRE will donate a check in the name of the team, which was coached by Zavalla's Jane West.

The boys' game also came down to the final seconds, but Angelina County pulled off a 78-72 win. Lufkin's Terrance Penson led the team with 23 points. Angelina County played for Harold's House and was led by Zavalla's Lucas Holloway.
