NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Nacogdoches Police officers arrested a 44-year-old man Thursday after he allegedly touched a 13-year-old girl inappropriately while she slept on a couch at his residence in the 2400 block of Elizabeth Street.
Clarence Terrell Martin, of Nacogdoches, is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a second-degree felony charge of indecency with a child by sexual contact and two misdemeanor traffic offenses. No bail has been set at this time.
According to the arrest affidavit, the incident allegedly occurred Thursday morning. The 13-year-old girl's mother said they spent the night at Martin's house on Elizabeth Street.
The mother left for work and left her daughter sleeping on a couch in the living room because someone was supposed to take the girl to school later. "She was awakened by registered sex offender Clarence Terrell Martin touching her" inappropriately, the affidavit stated.
Nacogdoches Police officers brought Martin in for questioning later that day. After he was advised of his Miranda rights, Martin admitted to be in "very close proximity" with the 13-year-old girl, but denied touching her inappropriately.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety's online Sex Offender Registry, Martin was convicted of indecency with a child by sexual contact on Sept. 24, 1998 for inappropriately touching a 16-year-old girl. He was sentenced to 11 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice prison system.
