PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Most Valley locations will reach or slightly exceed the 100-degree mark Sunday through Tuesday.

The "average" first 100° day in the Valley is May 2nd.

A strong high pressure system will build into the region for some of the warmest afternoons of the year.

Highs in Phoenix could remain in the triple digits through Tuesday, with the hottest weather on Monday, when highs could hit 102 degrees, meteorologists said.

A weather system will pass north of us by midweek, knocking temperatures back into the low/mid 90s.  The only other effect from this system will be an increase in wind.

Gusts up to 30 mph will be common, mainly across the higher terrain of south-central Arizona Tuesday afternoon.
