Lady Knights hope to get over "big game" hump

Posted: Updated:
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

When the Deerfield Lady Knights earned a 3-1 win last week over Mount de Sales in the GISA  state quarterfinals, head coach Aly Joslin let out a big sigh of relief.

Joslin's team has always been close, but when it came to taking on the state's best teams, they always seemed to come up short.

But he hopes the win over Mount de Sales last week was the final push to get the Lady Knights over the hump.

He says he believes the team now carries a new found confidence into their state semifinal against Westminster Wednesday.

"We've lost to Mount de Sales. We've lost to Augusta Prep. We've lost to Westminster. We just haven't been able to get over that big team," Joslin says. "I think, and we talked about it in practice yesterday, that they have been able to get that win over a big team and hopefully it breeds confidence for tomorrow."

DWS kicks off against Westminster Wednesday at Webb Memorial Stadium at 5:00.
