Nacogdoches native Crystal McCarthy has returned home from the ultimate transformation vacation she received from April 8-15 after winning the active female 90-day weight loss competition by the national weight loss company Body by Vi.
McCarthy and her husband got to receive spa treatment, and a $5,000 personalized shopping spree at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. She also got to get her picture taken for several promotional photo shoots.
Her pictures will be used on the Body by Vi 90- Day Challenge website, as well as in their promotional videos and apparel catalog to be released in 2014.
She also got a private cooking lesson with "Top Chef" season 2 winner IIian Hall and got access to the VIP suite at a Los Angeles Lakers game.
"The shopping spree was a once in a lifetime experience. From the moment the doors opened to the penthouse suite at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, it was like a giant high-energy party complete with a live DJ, butlers attending to our every need with champagne and hors d'oeuvres," said McCarthy.
She said the most memorable moment of her trip was when she got to see her promotional pictures.
"I was brought to tears as I explained to (the photographers) that I had never thought of myself as looking like the woman I was staring at. I truly couldn't believe that the woman on the screen was me. That was the moment I realized I am not the same woman I was last year," said McCarthy.
McCarthy lost almost 50 pounds during her 90-day challenge and was able to complete her goal of running a 5k without stopping. She says she is currently mentoring several other Nacogdoches women on completing their 90-day challenges.
"I struggled for years with obesity and I truly believe that God has now given me the platform to help other men and women achieve the kind of life-changing body transformation that I have," said McCarthy.
