Not guilty pleas in bondsmen shootings

Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -

Two men arrested in connection with the shooting deaths of two Phoenix bail bondsmen have pleaded not guilty.

Maricopa County prosecutors say 25-year-old Anthony Brian Giunta and 23-year-old Nicholas Adam Malicki entered their pleas Wednesday. Their initial pretrial conference is set for June 19.

Phoenix police say 37-year-old David Brickert and 39-year-old Wesley Kampen went to an apartment complex on April 16 to arrest Giunta.

Giunta allegedly had skipped out on bail and didn't show up for a hearing on weapons and drug charges.

Authorities say as Giunta was being led away in handcuffs, friends and family members encircled the bondsmen and Giunta allegedly yelled to the crowd to shoot them.

They say Malicki then allegedly shot both bondsmen at close range. He's accused of two counts of first-degree murder.
