NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Nacogdoches Police officers arrested a 74-year-old landlord Wednesday afternoon for state-jail felony criminal mischief after he allegedly turned off his tenant's electricity and put a lock on the breaker box, so she couldn't turn her power back on.

John Fred Castella, of Nacogdoches, is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail. He was released from jail Thursday after he posted his $3,500 bail.

According to the arrest affidavit, an NPD officer responded to a home in the 600 block of Price Street on April 30. The complainant told the officer that her landlord had turned off her power without her permission and placed a lock on her breaker box, so that she could flip the breakers to restore her electricity. The electrical service was in the complainant's name.

The NPD officer also spoke to a witness who saw Castella turn the power off and put the lock on the breaker box. Castella allegedly admitted to doing both, according to the arrest affidavit.
