SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A Broaddus man was arrested following a high-speed chase through the counties of Jasper, Angelina and San Augustine Thursday afternoon.

Angelina Constable Tom Selman said Vaughn Longino, 53, stole fishing equipment at the Jasper Walmart and police there tried to stop him as he was coming out of the parking lot.

Driving faster than 100 miles per hour, Longino got to Zavalla in about 15 minutes, Selman said, and headed to Broaddus. Longino bailed out of his Dodge pickup there and ran into the woods, where he was caught a short time later by Jasper Police officers.

Longino has a long criminal record and had just bailed out of the jail on April 29 on a charge of theft.
