Three students killed, 1 in critical condition after 2-vehicle accident Saturday

RUSK COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Three students were killed and another is in critical condition after a 2-vehicle accident in Rusk County Saturday evening, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. 

Around 7:40 p.m., Kevin Christian Garcia, 19, of Houston, was driving southbound on State Highway 315 in Rusk County when he made a u-turn and crashed into a tractor-trailer driven by Juan Garcia, of Parr, who was not injured. 

Garcia and the three other students, who all reportedly attended Stephen F. Austin State University, were riding in Garcia's 2006 Ford Escape.

Patrick Wayne Fagan, 18, of Missouri City died at the scene. He was wearing his seatbelt.

Two other students, a 23-year-old male and a 21-year-old female, were also killed. DPS reports that neither were wearing their seatbelt. The individuals have been identified but their names are being withheld until their next of kin is notified.

Kevin Garcia was last listed in critical condition with internal injuries at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. The DPS report says he was wearing his seatbelt.
