LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The Humane Society and Kurth Memorial Animal Shelter kicked off national '"Be Kind to Animals Week."
Both shelters brought homeless, adoptable animals to Petsmart in Lufkin to show off their cute faces and hopefully find them a new family.
Director of the Humane Society, Paula Divello says adoption events really get the word out about adoption.
"It's very important to adopt and not shop," said Divello. "There's so many that are euthanized in Lufkin and the surrounding areas for us to be able to find forever homes for them is just the best feeling in the whole world."
Divello says both shelters have one adoption weekend at Petsmart every quarter but many more animals needing homes are available for adoption at Kurth and the Humane Society daily.
