Trinity Valley softball is headed to the national tournament for the first time ever. No one is more surprised than the Lady Cardinals. The program is only five years old, but is already competing for a national title.
"We just started this program and we've had a lot of people doubt us," said second baseman Taylor Wilson. "It's still shocking to be honest."
The Lady Cardinals set a school record with 33 wins and won a regional tournament game for the first time in school history.
"That was an overwhelming experience, because we went two and out the past couple of years," said center fielder Candice Wise. "Winning one was our goal to be honest. Clinching that spot was the topping on the cake."
The national tournament begins May 15 in St. George, Utah.
