Daisy hopes to heal her heart with a home

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Meet daisy. She's a 3-year-old Jack Russel Terrier mix.

She's shy at first but once she gets to know you and starts playing, she's a load of fun on four legs.

Nacogdoches Animal Control Officer, Steven Bryant says, "She's been here a while. She was found as a stray. Very sweet. Good with everybody, loves children. Doesn't bark much. Is leash trained and unfortunately she's heartworm positive."

Daisy is just as sweet as can be. She's suffering from a broken heart caused by both a case of heartworms and loneliness.

Daisy is hoping someone will fall in love with her because she'd really like a home despite her heart worms.

Staff at the shelter says that with the proper treatment Daisy will live a happy, healthy life.

Bryant says, "There's different treatments to it. Due to her size, her treatment wouldn't be as expensive as for a larger dog and our test just shows positive or negative it doesn't show how much is in the blood stream."

Daisy is curious and loves to run around outside.

"You know they need to get out in the sunshine good vitamin D, playtime and everything," said Bryant.
