WATERBURY, CT (WFSB) -

A middle school teacher in Waterbury is being accused of stealing electricity from Connecticut Light and Power.

The company said it alerted police after they were unable to take readings from the meter at the home of 42-year-old Patty Betancourt.

She's now accused of stealing more than $13,000 worth of electricity and was charged with larceny.
