SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - San Augustine County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 30-year-old woman who allegedly attacked and cut her husband with a knife Sunday because she thought he was cheating on her.
LaToya Mae Ziglar Pickard told authorities that she had been acting in self defense when she went after her husband with the knife.
Pickard, of San Augustine, is still being held in the San Augustine County jail on a first-degree felony charge of aggravated assault family violence with a deadly weapon. No bail has been set at this time.
According to the arrest affidavit, a deputy with the San Augustine County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to Pickard's residence in the 600 block of U.S. Highway 96 North in reference to an assault. Pickard's husband told the deputy that she attacked him because she thought he was cheating on her, and he had numerous defensive knife wounds on his hands.
"L. Pickard had a small cut above her wrist, but otherwise showed no signs of being physically assaulted," the deputy said in the affidavit.
Pickard was arrested at the scene and transported to the San Augustine County Jail.
