ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

An 83-year-old Huntington woman is being treated for minor injuries after she drove off a bridge on FM 841 Monday afternoon.

Constable Tom Selman said Betty Harrison was driving a Kia Sorrento and drove off the bridge near the intersection of FM 1475 around 4:15 p.m.

"Some U.S. Marines were traveling, and they were the first one scene to stop and render aid to the victim," Selman said. "That's the way it is here in Angelina County. We had a lot of volunteer firefighters, citizens, Marines that stopped to help. Everybody just pitched in together to help this lady."

Selman said Harrison was taken to a Lufkin hospital and is expected to be OK, Selman said.

Traffic was blocked on FM 841 while responders try to get the woman and vehicle out of the creek.

Emergency responders and volunteer drivers who stopped at the scene managed to get the woman out of the car and into a gurney and worked together to get her out of the creek bed.

The accident occurred around 4:15 p.m.
