ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Authorities with the Angelina County Sheriff's Office have arrested a Huntington man accused of burning the hand of the four-year-old daughter of his girlfriend.

Bryan Craig Ybarguen, 34, is charged with third-degree injury to a child.

According to the arrest affidavit, the child's father dropped his daughter off at her mother's home earlier this month for visitation. When he picked her up, he saw her hand and asked her about it and the girl said that Ybarguen had burned her with a cigarette. The father said he asked the mother about it and she said that she fell down.

The investigator said he asked her what happened and she again said Ybarguen burned her with a cigarette. An interview was then set up at Harold's House and the child again said Ybarguen held her hand down and burned her with the cigarette and did not say anything to her. She said he also hit her with a cane pole.

According to the affidavit, two more witnesses backed up the child's statement.

An arrest warrant was obtained on May 15. Ybarguen was booked on the charge on Thursday and he is being held on a $7,500 bail.
