LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Angelina County dogs put their best paws forward Sunday vying for top dog status and barking rights at the first ever, Winnie Berry Dog Show.

Big and small, the Humane Society dog show called for them all to join in the fun. 21 four-legged friends and their owners showed off their what they can do at the Winnie Berry Dog Show.

Owners signed their dogs up for events they thought their pooch would be the best at like: talkiest, waggiest tail, smallest/biggest dog, cutest/ugliest dog, best trick, musical sit and hot dog bobbing.

Matthew Nicholas was confident his German Short-haired Pointer, Lefty, would be a winner.
"I'm going to get all the money," said Matthew.

Lefty took home top prize in the hot dog bobbing contest and got a hot dog snack in the process.
Anna and Caroline Squyres entered their Daschund, Cooper, in the best trick competition.
"I think he's going to do best trick," said Anna. "He knows jumping"

Chuy the Chiweenie, showed everyone that the smallest dogs can sometimes make the biggest sounds. Chuy tied for talkiest dog with Daschund, Little Debbie.

Kelsey and Riley Hunter and brought their dog Bella.

"Well she's really sweet," said Kelsey. "She likes to play and she's good at doing fetch, yeah, she' likes to play with balls. She even plays with our little big purple ball."

Kelsey thought Bella would be a winner and she was right. Bella took home the smallest dog award.

One of the fan favorites of the day was a play on musical chairs called musical sit. Dogs and their owners walked in circles to the song, "Who Let The Dogs Out" and the dogs had to sit as fast as they could every time the music stopped.

This dog show let anyone with a their talented pets come out and have fun. It wasn't just limited to show quality dogs like your average dog show.
