Lufkin celebrates LISD superintendent Roy Knight at retirement celebration

Friends, family and co-workers gathered at the Lufkin Civic Center Sunday to wish Lufkin ISD superintendent, Roy Knight a happy retirement.

Knight has been an educator with Lufkin ISD for 21 years serving as coach, teacher, principal and six years as superintendent.

At the reception, Knight was surprised with a painting of him fishing and a letter from former President Bill Clinton congratulating him on his retirement.

Knight told KTRE in a previous interview that he's looking forward to spending his retirement with his grand kids, fishing and doing some traveling.

Knight's last day is June 30.
