Former Lufkin and Texas A&M defensive back Alton Dixon is now in his second year as the Panthers secondary coach. Dixon, who was not drafted, began coaching at Lufkin in February 2012.
The former safety brings a lot of enthusiasm and energy to the field, which in turn spills over to the players. Dixon wants his secondary to be mean and physical, but at the same time stay mentally sharp.
Alton has realized over the past two years how hard a coach works, and is glad to give back to a community where he once played.
