More than 1,000 lose power in Lufkin area

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

As of 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, the Deep East Texas area has suffered little damage in an evening storm.

Around 8 p.m., the Nacogdoches Fire Department has reported trees down on US 59, just south of the loop.

Rumors of a tornado in the Alto area are not true, as the National Weather Service reports it was just a shelf cloud. At 8:07 p.m., some trees were reported down by the NWS.

At 9:05 p.m., the NWS reported trees and power lines were down in the Lovelady area.

As of 10:45 p.m., according to the Oncor website, 45 homes in the Douglass area, 38 in the Nacogdoches area, 80 in the Pollok area, 1,054 in Lufkin and 92 in the Huntington area are without power.
