LIVINGSTON, TX (KTRE) -

Livingston Police officers arrested a 25-year-old woman for child endangerment after her two small children were found playing near a roadway Friday.

Alice Elizabeth Kowis, of Livingston, was arrested Tuesday and charged with two second-degree felony charges of abandoning or endangering a child imminent danger of bodily injury. Collectively, her bond has been set at $70,000.

According to a press release from the Livingston Police Department, officers were dispatched out to Farm Road 2457 on a call about two small children playing in the roadway. When they arrived on the scene, Polk County Chief Deputy Byron Lyons told them that he had seen the children near the roadway.

After the Livingston Police officers located the kids' residence, they made contact with Kowis, their mother. She told police that she had fallen asleep and did not know her children were outside.
