ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A man was struck and killed by a vehicle on Highway 59, south of Diboll.
The accident happened around 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Diboll Police, the Diboll Fire Department and the Department of Public Safety responded to the scene.
According to DPS State Trooper, Rocky Thigpen, a GMC truck was driving southbound when it struck a male, who was standing in the inside lane with his back turned toward oncoming traffic.
Thigpen stated the driver of the truck, a Corrigan man in his early 20's, told authorities he was driving the speed limit of 75 mph, when he struck the victim. The vehicle did not make a complete stop until it was 450 feet away from the accident, according to Thigpen.
Angelina County Justice of the Peace Precinct 4, Esther Barger, pronounced the man dead on scene.
Thigpen stated the victim is a white male in his early 60's, he was also seen walking around Diboll earlier Wednesday.
The driver was not issued a citation.
The name of the victim will not be released until Thursday.
