DPS releases ID of Lufkin pedestrian killed in wreck

ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

DPS has released an official report in connection to the death of a Lufkin man who was hit and killed after getting hit by a vehicle while walking on US 59 in the Diboll area Wednesday night.

According to the report, Patrick Henry Clark, 64, died at 9:15 at the scene of the accident, which was about a mile south of Diboll.

According to the DPS report, Brently Chase Lucas, of Corrigan, was driving a 2013 GMC pickup southbound on US 59 at 8:50 p.m. when he struck Clark, who was walking southbound on US 59.

Trooper Rocky Thigpen said in an interview Wednesday night that Clark was walking in the inside lane with his back turned to traffic. He also said that Lucas reported he was driving the speed limit when he struck Clark. The pickup did not make a complete stop until it was 450 feet away from the accident, Thigpen said.
